When a policyholder is told they cannot stay at home, the next call they get decides how the rest of the claim feels. Here is a short checklist for placing a family well.
- Distance. Search by the policyholder’s own postcode. School and work should stay within reach.
- Size. Bedrooms that match the household, so nobody is sleeping in the lounge.
- Pets. Ask early. A pet friendly home saves kennel costs and a lot of upset.
- Open end date. Repairs slip. Make sure the stay can run on, and stop early when the house is ready.
- A proper home. Kitchen, laundry and a living room, not a hotel room for three months.
- Billing. Invoices to the insurer or claims company with the claim number on each one. Open a business account for credit terms.
