Every site manager has done the maths at some point. Five people, six weeks, a job an hour from base. Do you book five hotel rooms, or one furnished house? Here is how the numbers and the day to day usually fall.

What a hotel block really costs

  • Five rooms at a nightly rate, every night, including weekends if the crew stays over
  • Meal allowances, because nobody can cook
  • Paid parking for the vans, if there is any
  • Five folios to reconcile at the end of the month

What a crew house costs

  • One weekly or monthly price for the whole house
  • A kitchen, so breakfast and tea happen at home
  • A driveway for the vans
  • One invoice, with your PO on it

The things that do not show on the invoice

A bed each and a quiet street mean better sleep. A washer and dryer mean clean kit every morning. A living room means the crew is not sitting in a car park on their phones. Those things show up in the work.

When the hotel still wins

One or two people, two or three nights, city centre, no vans. Book the hotel.
